Reminiscent of the final scene of The Italian Job, a bus in El Fargue was left with its back end hanging over a drop and the front wheels off the ground.

The bus driver was on a trip to Granada and stopped for lunch at the well-known Restaurante Padilla on the A-4002 in El Fargue on Wednesday.

Returning to the vehicle after lunch, he was horrified to see that it had rolled backwards about ten metres and was left balanced like a see-saw over a drop.

The driver assured the Policia Local that he hadn’t forgotten to engage the handbrake, and that, “It must have failed, loosened or something similar.”

With the necessary help of the Granada Fire Department, the bus was first secured so that it wasn’t going to tumble down into the river below using two hoists and then a vehicle with a winch wound the bus back onto the road.

After a collective sigh of relief, the bus driver continued on his way…
