Anybody who has lived in Otívar will know, or know of, Joaquín who acted as the municipal gardener and was always around to assist in the doctor's surgery.
Joaquín Gaitán Fajardo, aged 77, died Thursday night around 22.30h after falling down a flight of steep stone steps and breaking his neck.

His body was found by guests staying at the small boutique hotel in the village, run by Dave and Paula.
His funeral was held in the village church and attended by many, many villagers, from where his coffin was taken to the municipal cemetery for burial.
Ironically, another task that Joaquín often undertook was the sealing of the niches after a coffin was in place; something that was overlooked in the general grief, when it came to placing his body to rest.
Having just spoken with Mayor Francisco Robles, he said that they are planning a homage to this dearly loved Otiveño on the 30th of this month.
RIP, Joaquín, it was always a pleasure talking with you.
