Paseo Cotobro Subsidence

A nasty-looking hole, caused by strong wave action, opened up along the Paseo de Cotobro in Almuñécar.

This is a favourite stretch of paseo for joggers and the main access for people who live in Cotobro and wish to walk into town.

As soon as the Policía Local caught wiff of this dangerous subsidence they cordoned it off using barriers, pending reparation work.

Along this stretch of paseo the waves often break upon the boulders protecting the paseo, heaving spray up onto the pavement.

It must have been in the late 80s that a whole section collapsed in front of Epsylon I & II, completely cutting off Cotobro along the seafront so that all traffic had to use the N-340 to reach town.
