Substituing The Seabed Pipeline

The situation regarding the potable water supply in Granada, specifically in Almuñécar and La Herradura, is a critical issue, especially with the arrival of the tourist season in summer.

The current pipeline, which has been in operation for over 25 years and brings water from Río de Miel, is in poor condition, and is proving inadequate to meet the growing demand. Leaks and its seabed layout further complicate the situation.

However, with the arrival of an alternative water supply from the Rules Reservoir will not only substitute this ageing seabed system, but also provide a delivery infrastructure that is easier to maintain and repair, as well as a more abundant supply of water to cover the summer months when the municipality quadruples its population.

The project design will also take into account environmental impact and energy efficiency, which is essential to guarantee a water supply not only for the present but also for the future of the municipality.

The use of green energy in the pumping stations and the pipeline are advances towards a lower dependency on fossil fuels.
