The Resistant Cat

A man in his late 80s in Zubia (Granada) shot a neighbour's cat with an air rifle and to his dismay, it survived. He is now facing a charge of animal cruelty.

In fact, he shot it three times, once in an eye but the cat made it back home. The cat belongs to a woman who lives next door and when she saw that the cat was bleeding from its eye, she took it straight to the vet.

The vet soon discovered three pellets lodged in the cat’s body, one of which in its head that had affected an eye causing it to bleed.

The cat owner immediately reported what had happened at the Guardia Civil post in La Zubía. She took along the pellets that had been extracted from her cat.

Officers examined the area where the shooting had taken place and worked out the angle from which the projectiles had come. They narrowed it down to a dwelling and after examining the owners records saw that he had a registered a 177 (4.5mm) air rifle.

The police then confiscated the air gun and charged the man, who will appear before a police court.
