Reader: Fly Tipping

A reader from Salobreña writes in to draw attention to fly tipping at the bottom of Urb. Los Alminares.

Dear Ed

Hi I live in Urb. Los Alminares in Salobreña. Since the council’s initiative for removing the bins for our rubbish we have been plagued with fly tippers.

The council responds too slowly and we end up with quite a large pile of waste which varies from household waste to builders’ rubbish and everything in between.

It is an eyesore and a health hazard.

Ali Warburton

Hi Ali, there has long been a problem with those hopper bins near the main road as somebody empties them out looking for salvageable items amongst the rubbish. He never bothers to but the rest of the rubbish back.

I realise that this is not what you are reporting but it is just another problem with that rubbish-collecting area.

Put the bins back. Obviously, not everyone got the memo about the different types of trash that will be picked up daily on the Monte. Having trash bags and trash trucks all over the Monte EVERY DAY looks awful and probably is hard on the roads (some of which are having problems anyway). I vote to have the bins replaced.
