The Policía Nacional have arrested a man suspected of murdering the 80-year-old, American priest, Richard Gross, who had just arrived on holiday in Málaga on the 20th of January.
The police arrested a young Moroccan man of 27 in February, considered an accomplice in the mugging which ended in the death of the victim.

The police very rapidly identified the principal suspect but he fled the city so the police placed an international arrest warrant out on him, fearing that he had left the country. However, the 40-year-old chief suspect; a Spaniard of original French origin, turned up in a routine control in Sevilla.
The police investigation concluded that the two arrested men mugged Father Richard Gross, a Jesuit priest outside his tourist apartment as he was opening the front door, on the first day of his stay. The cause of death was strangulation and after dealing with the victim, they allegedly stole his possessions and fled the scene.
