There was a small avalanche in the Río area of the ski slopes which took place on Tuesday around midday.
According to Centursa Remontes it affected one of the supports for the chair lift (Acensor), which is outside the ski-slope area.

Ski-station workers and the Guardia Civil, mountain-rescue service, Grupo de Rescate e Intervención en Montaña (Greim) searched the area for over two hours looking for possible buried victims but none were found.
They used both probing poles and electronic devices, as well as a rescue dog to check the area covered by snow from the avalanche.
It was one of the skiing instructors that informed the control tower whilst on the cable car, Al Andalus, saying that he couldn’t see anybody in the area of where the snow came down.

Owing to the recent snowfall, Sierra Nevada stands at avalanche-alert, level three (out of five), which is why the ski station recommends that skiers do not venture off the slopes.
Update: A second avalanche, which occured today in the Tajos de La Virgen area, has elevated the risk level for an avalanche to four on a scale of five
