The new parking area, near the western entrance to Maro, is now finished after years of bureaucratic wrangling and six months of construction work.

The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo (PP), has signed off on the 100-space car park, as well as announcing that work on Calle Cristo will begin on the 3rd of next month.

He explained that both projects have a combined budget of 487,680 euros: 241,964 for the car park and 249,060 for the street work.

The Mayor also announced that the Town Hall had signed off on the enlargement of the pedestrian pavement along the old N-340 between Maro and Nerja, which is almost a kilometre in length and had a budget of 128,127 euros.

The First Councillor for Maro, Nuchi Moreno, said, “All these improvement have a positive impact on Maro, improving the quality of life for residents, making the village more modern.”
