The Councilor for Fiestas, Alberto García Gilabert, announced that the official carnival activities scheduled for Saturday are either cancelled or postponed because of the rain for that day. There is also a cancellation in Nigüelas.

However, as things might improve by Sunday, Carnaval Familiar in Almuñécar and Carnaval Infantil in La Herradura, (both scheduled for Sunday) will go ahead (with fingers crossed).

Futhermore, the adult fancy-dress competion will be moved to Sunday, as well.

Councillor García Gilabert said that other activities scheduled for Saturday will be postponed and more information will be given at a later date.

Another activity that won’t go ahead on Saturday, as planned, is the Garden Market in the gardens of Alquería de Los Lentos (Valle de Lecrín), which has been cancelled. This event is normally held on the first Saturday of the month.
