A passenger died on a flight between Tenerife Sur in the Canary Islands and Nottingham in the UK yesterday afternoon.
The 70-year-old man suddenly experienced health difficulties on the Boeing 737-8MG enroute for Nottingham. The flight had taken off in the early afternoon but had to make an emergency landing at Aeropuerto de Lavacolla in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia where an ambulance was waiting.

The captain of the aircraft informed the Air Traffic Control that they had a passenger who was seriously ill and needed urgent medical attention and therefore needed clearance for landing at the nearest airport and for an ambulance to be standing by.
Air Traffic Control gave heading/descent instructions for approach to runway 17 at Lavacolla whilst requesting medical assistance on the ground.
Upon landing the ambulance was ready to take him to the nearest hospital but paramedics confirmed that the man was already dead.
