A car burst into flames on the road connecting Frigiliana to the autovía and Nerja yesterday around 15.00h causing a considerable hold up.

Judging by the accompanying photo of the burnt-out fire, it occurred on the M-5105 where the bus stop is just before the roundabout, more or less across from Restaurante Hotel Rural Almazara.

The occupants managed to get out of the vehicle unharmed and the fire service was soon at the scene, as well as the Guardia Civil and the Policía Local. Officers closed the road, cutting off Frigiliana around 15.00h with the midday rush hour in progress.

The fire personnel managed to suffocate the flames but not before the car was completely destroyed. A break-down vehicle was called out to remove the wreck.
