Punto Límpio Salobreña

A campaign to promote the use of the Puntos Limpios Móviles begins today and will run until Friday the 28th; i.e., the last day of the month.

A team of two will accompany the vehicle to answer any questions that members of the public might have about how the system works; i.e., how all kinds of refuse are handled within the municipality.

They will also be handing out leaflets, pointing out where, when and what kinds refuse will be accepted in the puntos limpios. Radio Salobreña will also be participating in the awareness campaign.

Concerning refuse handling:

Not all waste can be deposited in the usual street hoppers, nor is it feasible to install containers in the street for all the types of domestic waste. For example there is special waste, which is toxic or dangerous (batteries, paints, batteries, etc.), bulky waste (mattresses, furniture, garden cuttings, etc.) or electrical and electronic equipment (household appliances etc.).

This waste needs to be managed by qualified personnel in closed and controlled facilities; the so-called Puntos Limpios. Unfortunately, it is often left on street corners or dumped in the middle of the countryside. Last year alone, 209,200 kilograms of household goods were collected in Salobreña.
