The Ministerio de Transportes y Movilidad Sostenible has finally approved the project for the roundabout on the N-323a where it divides to reach Motril port and the Golf Course.
At the moment it is a T-junction just over from the Motril-Granada N-340 junction where the road to Playa Granada begins. We ran an article on an accident on this junction back in 2023.

The roundabout project has a buddget of 368,614 euros and is now only pending its publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
At present, if you are coming up from the port via la Carretera de la Celulosa (N-323a), you have to drive past the T-junction and go around the roundabout under the N-340 flyover if you want to turn left at the said T-junction as there is an unbroken white line that makes it illegal to turn left there.
The reason for this is because the T-junction is on a blind bend and if a car is stopped opposite the junction waiting the cross over there is a chance that it will get rammed from behind.
Anybody who has been here since before the A-7/A-44 were built will remember that this route to the port was the most direct one for traffic coming down from Granada.
