The fountains around the town of Salobreña have been inoperative for about three months after a public-health inspection found a problem in one of them.
The problem was the appearance of legionella bacteria in the fountain in front of Casa Roja but for safety reasons, all of the fountains around town were shut off. The bacterial problem has now been eradicated.

During those three months, the Town Hall Maintenence Department for Parks and Gardens were not idle and took the opportunity to check the electrical systems, clean the filters, repaint and carry out the general cleaning on the fountains in Plaza de Goya, Plaza Juan Carlos and in the Parque La Fuente I.
Councillor Luis Cano said that through the Sanisur company, they have also fumigated mosquitos in the parks and removed dog excrement not collected up by the animals’ owners. Another task was the removal of catepillar nests in pine trees around town.
