Fire personnel from the Almuñécar fire station rescued a dog on Friday that had spent four days trapped down a well.
This took place in the Barranco de Ítrabo area; i.e., the track that leaves Rio Verde next to the sewage-treatment plant and continues up into the hills.

Its owner had been searching for days to find him, until he finally located the dog at the bottom of a 5-metre deep well shaft.
The operation to get the dog out was undertaken at night, rather than waiting for daylight and care had to be take when pulling him up as the sides of the shafte had several projections on which the dog harness could get caught.
Apart from being exhausted and a little nervous with all the voices and flashlights, amazingly, it had suffered no injures after dropping five metres to the bottom… which was empty of water, thank God because the dog wouldn’t have lasted that long treading water.
Editorial comment: you can understand why young children want to grow up to be firefighters; heroes that save lives rather than take them.
