Sweet-Toothed Burglars

The Real y Muy Antigua Hermandad de Nuestra Señora de las Angustias announced that thieves had made off with their sweets and toys that were to be given out the next day.

This break-in at the said chapel in Motril took place in the early hours of the 30th of last month and resulted in the thieves carting off 50 kilos of sweets, as well as a number of toys that should have gone to local kids.

Event organiser Adrián Sabio, for the Asociación de Vecinos de las Angustias, expressed the general sense of “indignation” that they all feel.

“We found the window to the chapel forced but thanks to the window bars, the thieves weren’t able to steal more [larger objects]” he said.

They reported the break-in to the Policía Nacional, who are examining security-camera footage from the CCTV in the Plaza de la Ermita de las Angustias

Motril Town Hall offered their immediate collaboration in making good the loss and the Hermandad made it known via their social media accounts that they would be grateful for anybody who wished to donate sweets and toys so that the fiesta could go ahead.
