The heavy rain that the weather alerts forecast has done wonders for the stored-water capacity in the province's reservoirs.
That night and day of rain added a total of 2.2 cubic hectometres of water to the reservoirs, which is equivalent to 2,200-million litres – an unusual amount given such a short period of time.

These figures come from the Confederación Hidrográfica del Guadalquivir (CHG), which manages nine reservoirs and Hidrosur, which manages only Béznar and Rules.
Even in litres it’s still a hard amount to imagine, so we can say that it equivalent 652 Olympic swimming pools.
Another way of looking at it is that the 2,200-million litres is enough to supply 942,772 inhabitants during 17 days.
Of all the reservoirs that received this blessing, it was El Embalse de Bermejales that received the most with 0.73 cubic hectometres (773-million litres or, if you prefer, 0.8% of its total storage capacity.
Both Béznar and Rules also got a good smattering, but we won’t bother you with yet more statistics.
