The city of Granada has one of the oldest and respected Jazz Festivals in Europe: the Granada International Jazz Festival, which will take place this year between the 1st and 9th of November
It came into being in 1980 and has had performances by none other than Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Charlie Haden, Art Blaokey, Tete Montoliu, Dizzy Gillespie, Wayne Shorter, Abbey Lincoln, Herbie Hancock, Dee De Bridgewater, Chucho Valdés, Ron Carter, Eliane Elias and Robert Glasper.

The performances belonging to this year’s festival will be held in two locations: Isabel La Católica and the Teatro La Chumbera. As for styles, there will everything from the hip hop and the funk of the Theo Croker, through the rhythm of Alfredo Rodríguez’s Cuban jazz, to Lakecia Benjamin’s bop.
One name not to miss is Bill Evans who was a former member of the Miles Davis line up and who will perform with his Vansband All Stars. He will also be receiving the most prestigious award of the event: The Granada Jazz Festival.

Especial Jazz Flamenco Frente a La Alhambra with Antonio Lizana: 9th of November at 21.00h at the Auditorio Municipal La Chumbera (Sacromonte).

Tickets cost 20, 30 or 40 euros depending on which seating you acquire within the theatre, and 30 and 40 in the Flamenco venue.
