Marcha Control el Cancer

This weekend past, Almuñécar held the first Marcha Contra el Cáncer with over 400 participants, despite the rain.

The march was to raise funds for cancer investigation and for support for oncological patients and their families.

The participants, of all ages, covered five kilometres walking through the streets of Almuñécar, setting out from the Estadio Municipal de Deportes Francisco Bonet.

And it wasn’t all trudging throught the rain because there were stops along the way for a raffle draw, a bar with tapas and even live music by a local group, Seis Puntos de Sutura and dancing with Zumba Evi Martín.

The Councillor for Sports, Luis Aragón, thanked locals for “their great demonstration of solidarity even with the weather against them.” He added that it was encouraging to see the willingness of locals to support such an important cause.
