The opposition party in the Salobreña Town Council, the Partido Popular (PP) has demanded that Mayor Javier Ortega explains why the Vial Verde Playa appears to be dead in the water.
PP Spokesman, Rafael Bosch, said that it was indicative of how the Mayor runs the town that he is “incapable of finishing the project that was to connect the beach area with the town centre.”

He went on to say that at the end of 2019 the project was 70% completed yet today there is still no news on the problems concerning the company that holds the contract to laying down the park.
Spokesman Bosch said that before summer the Mayor had told them that the last stage of the park would be put out to tender within a month or two, but instead, says the Councillor, the project remains stalled.
Editorial comment: the PP spokesman appears to have forgotten what happened in 2020; i.e. Covid, when all available municipal funds were diverted to sanitary needs. Furthermore, this PP councillor should take a look at Almuñécar’s muncipal market, under a PP mayor, which is still not finished.
