A stag attacked three people at a cortijo near Las Almontaras within the municipality of Castril, killing one.
The animal was later shot dead by the son of the deceased. The three victims are of the same family; 91-year-old, José C, his 84-year-old wife and 61-year-old son.

The son was badly bruised in the attack and his mother suffered head injuries and fractured ribs. She was later transferred from the hospital in Baza to Hospital de Traumatología in the city of Granada.
It is unusual to find deer in that area and the circumstances behind the attack were still not established at the time of the writing of this article. What is known is that the stag appears to have entered the property and attacked the three people.
However, according to one neighbour, the family had reared the stag from when it was a fawn, some five or six years ago. If this is correct, it would explain a lot. Furthermore, it is illegal to rear these animals unless it is for agricultural livestock purposes.
