The Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa Tropical will sort out the water infrastructure running under Calle Las Flores, spenidng just under 46,000 euros.
Mancomunidad Chairman, Rafael Caballero, and the Mayor of Gualchos-Castell de Ferro, Toñi Antequera, had a wander and natter down the said street, accompanied by technicians from the water-utility company, Aguas y Servicio, who actually are the ones that are going to roll their sleaves up and sort it out.
Chairman Caballero said that the funds would come from the 2023 superavit and the planned work will eliminate the water pressure problem.
As is the case in many villages and small towns, the water mains and sewage run through concrete pipes which have degraded over the decades, so they will be replaced by wider PVC ones that will handle pipe pressure better than the old-style ones.
The Town Hall will have to foot the cost of repaving the streets once the pipes have been laid and covered over.
Mayor Toñi Antequera said that Calle Las Flores is used a lot because it leads down to the beach area, so getting it transitable again will be a priority.
