The following day to the fatal stabbing of an 11-year-old boy, the police arrested a 20-year-old suspect a few kilometres away from the scene of the crime.
The attack, as reported in a previous article, took place around 10.00h last Sunday at the Ángel Tardío football grounds in Mocejón (Toledo). The assailant inflicted nearly 20 stab wounds on the defenceless child.
It was at 17.30h yesterday that the arrest took place on Calle Dalí at the hands of plainclothes officers. The arrested man confessed before the police that he had carried out this senseless killing, which had shaken the town of little more of 5,000 to the core.
The confessed murderer had been spending a few days with his grandfather and father, who lived in the said town.
The police had used images from eyewitnesses’s cameras and mobile phone triangulation to locate the suspects home.
The suspect (a confession is not always conclusive evidence at this point of an investigation and trial) suffers from mental issues, according to his father. This will have to be confirmed by an appointed psychiatrist.
