A man died after a concrete pillar fell on top of him as he lay on a sun lounger on Monday the 12th.

This occurred a little before 17.00h in front of a chalet in Estepona, along the Camino del Colibrí.

The emergency coordination centre despatched a fire truck, which are equipped with heavy-duty cutting equipment and winches, etc.

The 66-year-old man was beyond help, leaving the paramedics on board the amublance to request that a coroner authorised the removal of the victim.

There is no further information either on the victim, or what caused the concrete pillar to topple.

Update: over in Barbate (Cádiz) a man was killed when the roof of his Garage fell on him. This happened just before 08.20h on the 14th. He had been removing ceiling props when it collapse, killing him on the spot.
