The body of a man in his early 70s was found in an upturned car within the municipality of Piñar, in the north of the province.
The emergency call centre received an alert just after midnight, last night to say that there was a car on its roof below the road that passes over the Barranco del Moralejo – it’s also the access road to the Cueva de Las Ventanas.
The person who made the call explained that the car had rolled down a barranco and that there was somebody trapped inside.
The Iznalloz fire service was sent, together with the Guardia Civi and an ambulance. When they reached the scene, the 71-year-old man was beyond help and had died in the accident.
It is not known what caused the driver to leave the road on this bend and crash down into the trees.
