The seawall protecting Aquatropic and Restaurante Árbol Banco in Almuñécar has been finally repaired - there was a press call yesterday to announce this.
This means Jorge at Restaurante Árbol Blanco Playa will reopen to the public this Friday. It also means that the Restaurante Árbol Blanco Clásico (Costa Banana) is now closed. This is great news for all the fans of this beachside restaurant which only closes on Wednesdays for a day’s rest once a week, from here until the end of October!
Why it has taken so long to fix the problem is the fruit of different administrations playing ping pong over whose responsibility it was to repair this sea-defence structure.
What we do know is that the repair work cost 47,000 euros and took about a month of hectic activity.
Mayor, Juanjo Ruiz Joya, signed off on the completed work yesterday morning in front of the gathered press, where he announced, “Today is an important day, not only for Almuñécar, but for the restaurant workers who stand behind me, who had witnessed how their means of support was truncated owing to the laxity of the Central Government.”
The fact of the matter is, of course, both administrations have the obligation to protect the welfare of the citizens who pay their salaries.
