Two young Moroccan men were apprehended making off with a stolen washing machine in Castell de Ferro.
Allegedly the two men, aged 21 and 25, climbed over into courtyard of a dwelling in the early hours of the 3rd of May. Spotting a washing machine, they reportedly broke the padlock on the gate to the street and tiptoed away with it, which is when they bumped into a Guardia Civil patrol.
Now, carrying a washing machine along a street in the early hours of a morning, would take a bit of explaining.
Naturally, the officers expected an unconvincing explanation and they got one, so the two men were relieved of their booty and told that if they could provide proof of their ownership of the apparatus at the police station, they could have it back.
Having identified the suspects and confiscated the washing machine, the suspects were allowed to go on their way. However, the next day a witness came forward to say that he or she had seen them scaling a wall to a private residence.
The police didn’t have much trouble locating them again and when they did, they arrested both men. The washing machine was returned to its rightful owner.
