Torrecuevas Romeria

Coming up on the 19th of this month is the very popular Romería de San Isidro Labrador that is held in Torrecuevas (Almuñécar) each year.

ALM Torrecuevas RomeriaThe Councillor for Culture & Fiestas, Alberto García Gilabert, explained that this tradition, which is now well established, only began eleven years ago but despite this, each year more and more people participate.

The procession will start out from Iglesia El Salvador, on the P-4 and end up on the Rambla de Torrecuevas where the carts and draught animals will park up. To get there, they will ascend Río Verde.

The full route is as follows: leaving Iglesia El Salvador, Calle Tetuán towards Avenida Mariana Pineda. From there, Avenida Rey Juan Carlos I to the Carrera de la Concepción (big-flag fountain) and then up the Jete road via Calle Molvízar (they will have to reverse the traffic direction on this street) heading for the Camino de la Vega until they reach the area known as the Caicillos.

Not a good day to drive through Almuñécar, but it is only once a year.
