On the 18th & 19th of April, the III Jornadas de Turismo Activo del Valle de Lecrín was held in Padul which was considered a great success.

The Chairman of the Provincial Council, Francisco Rodríguez, inaugurated the event, which was sponsored by the Board of Tourism for the Junta de Andalucia. Present was the Mayor of Padul, Celia Villena and the Chairman of the Asociación de turismo rural del Valle de Lecrín, Isaías Padial.

There was a speaker from the University of Granada covering the impact of human (tourism) activity on the Sierra Nevada, comparing it with figures for US natural parks, for example and how it affects the flora and fauna, as well as representatives from local adventure-sports companies .

All told 150 people assisted (including the Gazette) and there were several stands hosted by Lecrin companies, offering all kinds of advice, from how to obtain grants and product digitisation to tourism management.

Entities present were: Andalucía Lab, Andalucía Emprende, CADE de Dúrcal and the Instituto de la Juventud belonging to the Universidad de Granada, Asociación de empresarios de turismo rural del Valle de Lecrín, Aventura Alpujarra and the Centro Náutico del Valle de Lecrín.

There is no doubt that the interchange between tourism entities and environmental experts was very fruitful at creating synergies (the interaction or cooperation of two or more organisations to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects).
