The fatal accident took place near the Castillo de Bezmiliana, which is where the tourist train, run by City Sightseeing, had just made its last stop for the evening. There were no passengers onboard at the time of the accident and the driver had moved off to park the train for the night on the Explanada.
An ambulance was despatched, together with the Policía Local to the scene. Unfortunately, there was nothing that the paramedics could do for the 82-year-old woman.
The company that runs the train said that the train was travelling at 20 kmph and there was good visibility. According to the driver, however, he had hit the woman because she had suddenly stepped down off the pavement into his path.
