A man in his early 70s was accidentally run over by his adult son in North-West Spain. The son had been manoeuvring in the parking area of his father's house.

The accident occurred within the municipality of Trasmiras in Ourense (Galicia) Sunday evening around 21.00h. The car was backing up when it struck and ran over the 72-year-old man. Trasmira is virtually on the northern border of Portugal.

The son immediately phoned 112 asking for medical assistance for this father, who was unconscious and not responding.

An ambulance was immediately despatched but upon arrival saw that there was nothing to be done for the victim as he had already died. Then at 23.50h the coroner authorised the removal of the body and for it to be taken to the Complejo Hospitalario Universitario de Ourense, where they will carry out an autopsy.
