At least three immigrants drowned when their craft capsized yesterday off the coast of Motril.
According to sources within the Subdelegación de Almería, another five passengers in the patera were flown by helicopter to Almería Airport and then rushed by road to the Hospital Universitario de Torrecárdenas.
The sinking occurred 22 nautical miles south of Motril and Salvamento Marítimo air & sea assets from both Granada and Almería participated in the rescue mission.
It is still not known how many people were onboard when the boat capsized and sank.
