Almuñécar Town Hall has begun to plant several thousand spring flowers within the municipalities parks and gardens.
All told, municipal gardeners will plant 3,000 flowering plants that come out in spring. So far they have planted around 1,000, according to the Councillor for Agricultura, Parques y Jardines, Carlos Ferrón.
Councillor Ferrón said that their objective was to make the municipality more attractive for residents and visitors thus improving its appeal.
Obviously, the flowing plants are for this coming season and typical of the Mediterranean, which respond to planting at the end of winter and do not require much watering.
Finally, he regrets that some of the raised gardens with recently planted specimens have been plundered for their plants and appeals for people to show more civic spirit, “So that the town show off its life and colour.”
Editorial comment: good luck with that one, Councillor.

I guess the councillor has a kind heart and deep budget. Or “once bitten, twice shy” is not known to such people. If the monies lost came out of his salary, they may not be so kind hearted. I’m sure the last thieves, will look forward to the new garden plants.
Some people just can’t leave things for everybody to enjoy. I’m pleased to hear that these new plants don’t need much water.
