A paraglider flyer had to be rescued after he came down on a rocky area of a beach in Tarifa, known as the Playa de Los Alemanes.
This occurred a little before 12.20h on the 25th of last month. The emergency call centre 112 received an alert at this time to say that a paraglider flyer had crash landed in the Faro Camarinal, area near Urbanización Atlanterra.
He had come down hard against the rocks with his chute becoming entangled and he was unable to extract himself from this situation.
The call centre dispatched an ambulance, the Guardia Civil, the Policía Local from Tarifa and Puerto Real, as well as Protección Civil volunteers from Barbate and Tarifa.
As it was technically an ‘air accident’ the Centro de Control de Tránsito Aéreo were also informed.
It was thanks to a launch belonging to the Protección Civil that they were able to reach him, which took him to a nearby air-ambulance helicopter so that he could be flown to a nearby hospital.
