The Guardia Civil arrested a young man, suspected of carrying out a burglary on the 7th of January in Salobreña.
The 23-year-old man, who has a criminal record, allegedly forced an entrance into a dwelling in Salobreña, and made off with tools, electrical kitchen appliances, video games, fishing rods, bicycles and jewels. The stolen items had a calculated combined value of 15,000 euros.
The officers managed to track down the suspect after visiting those establishments that buy and sell gold, as well as second-hand goods on the Costa Tropical, where they found some of the stolen items and thus were able to obtain the identity of the person who brought then in.
In one such second-hand establishment they found the two stolen bicycles, a box of tools and a small fork lift.
The owner of the business explained that the suspect had pretended to be the grandson of the owner and had persuaded him to go to the suspect’s house to view the goods. He told the buyer that his grandmother had given him the task of selling the material.
Editorial comment: He must have known that the Guardia Civil would start with visiting second-hand-good establishments, but not only did he show his face, but he even showed the buyer where he lived. Obviously the suspect is not a Mensa candidate.
