Body of Missing Man Found

The hunt for the elderly man who went missing from Guájar-Faragüit a month and a half ago ended with the discovery of his body.

Abelardo Alcántara, aged 84, was suffering from Alzheimer’s and diabetes and his body was found amongst brambles not far from the village on the Thursday before Christmas at around 10.30h.

Abelardo disappeared on the 11th of November and the Guardia Civil immediately sent out search parties to find him aided by volunteers and tracker dogs belonging to the Protección Civil de Motril, as well as dozens of villagers. Later they were joined by infoca personnel who know the area from their counter-forest fire work.
