A man from Vélez de Benaudalla was arrested in Motril after he assaulted a police officer on Christmas Eve.
The 41-year-old driver had been reported to the Policía Local by several eyewitnesses because of his erratic driving during the afternoon of the 24th along Avenida Enrique Martin Cuevas.
Immediately, a patrol car was despatched to find the man, which they did, and breathalysed him. This gave a positive reading for alcohol (0.88 mg/l exhaled air).
The officers told him that his vehicle was to be immobilised owing to his condition, which the driver did not take kindly to and began shoving the officer about.
He was then handcuffed, arrested and taken to the police station to await an appearance before a police magistrate for assault & resisting arrest.
