Desalination Plant Plans

The Junta PM, Juanma Moreno, has said that it is necessary for all administrations to work together to solve the water shortage problem in Andalucia.

AND A Desalination PlantHe was referring to the Central Government as he wants them to help finance desalination plants:

“We need important public works that provide continuity and stability to our capacity to provide water for the people of Andalucía,” he said.

He went on to say that a plan needs to be drawn up to establish the best locations for desalination plants to cover the needs of agriculture, toursim, livestock farming, and domestic consumption.

PM Moreno is in Dubai at the moment attending the COP28, where he visited the Naqa’a desalination plant that is under construction in the United Arab Emirates which is being built by the Acwapower, Sidem and Veolia companies. It will be one of the biggest in the world and will be powered by solar energy.

The Junta’s Estrategia Plus Sequía has several projects that will be put into being during 2024,  including the installation of mobile desalination plants in Marbella and the Axarquía.
