Today in Majuelo Park

Almuñécar celebrates today the European Day of Ethnographic Heritage that will take place from 10.30 in the morning, in El Majuelo park.

ALM Jornada de Patrimonio EtnograficoThe archaeological/botanical park, El Majuelo, in addition to having a very important Roman, remains site where salted meats and garum sauce were made, is used as a cultural venue for traditional crafts fairs.

“With the European Heritage Days, we want to show the history and Almuñécar’s gastronomy, along with some of the trades that, with the passage of time and the change of life, have been lost,” said the Councillor for Culture, Alberto García Gilabert.

The programme is as follows:

10.30h: Presentation of the Conference
10.50h: Music, singing and dancing at the Fandango Cortijero in Almuñécar, with original instruments and historic costume, performed by the Fandango Cortijero Group.
11:00h: Exhibition of tools and elements manufactured by Félix, a saddler from Almuñécar.
11.30h: Sampling and explanation behind the Mohína Casserole.
11:40h: Music, singing and dancing at the Fandango Cortijero in Almuñécar, with original instruments and historic costume, performed by the Fandango Cortijero Group..
12.00h: Exhibition of basket weaving and explanation how it’s done
12.10h: Exhibition of tools and handmade guitars, bandurrias and lutes by Antonio, a tradition luthier.
12:20h: Exhibition of tools and explanation tradition boat-making carpentry by Andrés, an Almuñécar seaman.
12:30h: Music, singing and dancing at the Fandango Cortijero in Almuñécar, with original instruments and historic costume, performed by the Fandango Cortijero Group.
13:00h: Gastronomic Fair, in collaboration with the Cofradía del Santísimo Cristo atado a la Columna.(El Cristo de Los Gitanos)
