A young biker lost his life on the A-4050 Cabra Montes road (Almuñécar/Suspiro del Moro) Saturday evening.

Kilometre Point 7

The Ideal says that it happened within the municipality of Almuñécar, while saying it was near kilometre point seven, which is literally only seven kilometres from the Suspiro del Moro junction/A-44 Padul junction.

They took the information from the 112 website, so 112 either got the kilometre point wrong or the municipality wrong. The Almuñécar municipal border, at the other end of the Cabra Road, is between kilometre points 54 & 55.

Anyway, kilometre-point seven is on a double bend after a long stretch of arrow-straight road running for nine kilometres, which is where the rider may have collided with a van around 19.40h, which was when alerts started coming in from drivers on that road.

Witnesses said that the rider was trapped under the wheels of the vans. The control centre sent out the Almuñécar fire service, (which would have taken well over an hour to get there, if it was at kilometre-point seven) as well as the Guardia Civil, traffic police, Policía Local and an ambulance.

Emergency services at the scene of the accident said that the rider, who was reportedly very young, died at the scene.

Now, given that the Policía Local were involved, as well as the Almuñécar fire service, it makes more sense that it happened somewhere beyond kilometre-point 55, which is where Torrecuevas begins.

So, we phoned the Almuñécar fire service but were told that the people who had dealt with it were off duty and recommended that we phoned the Almuñécar Policía Local, so we did.

The police told us that the accident took place at kilometre point 57, which, effectively, lies between  Venta Luciano and where Torrecuevas borders with Almuñécar proper; i.e., where Bar Peñuelas is.
