We published an article on the 27th about a motion that the IU was going to put forward at the next Town Council Plenary Meeting in Almuñécar. It's now been approved.
The motion was for garage owners who have registered vados (parking prohibition at the entrance) to be able to park in front of them, and even authorise other people to park there, as well.
The bylaw used to state that nobody, not even the owner, could park in front of the street entrance to his garage – the municipal tow truck could simply tow the car away.
Now, thanks to this motion receiving approval, an owner can simply leave his car on the street in front of his garage entrance. Furthermore, he or she can authorise a third person to do the same, as long as written autorisation is on display on the dashboard or windscreen.
Logically, this does not apply to garages on pedestrian streets, as vehicles are only permitted access in order to reach their garage and park inside it.
It goes without saying that you can’t park in front of a communal garage entrance, which doesn’t mean that people don’t of course.

That’s all well and good as long as the access is big enough to accommodate the big 4×4 cars that are common here.
Why worry about parking in front of a person’s garage because pedestrian crossings are easier and you don’t get a ticket or towed.
