Next week drivers will find getting around Granada much more difficult because of security restrictions in the city due to the European Summit being held there.
The event will be held in the Palacio de Congresos, right in the centre of the city, with 51 European bigwigs attending. Consequently, streets around that area will have restricted access. We’re talking about the Acera del Darro and the Paseo del Salón, for example.
The Councillor for Movilidad y Protección Ciudadana, Ana Isabel Agudo, explained that the Third European Political Community Summit will be held from the 5th followed by an informal meeting of the European Council on the 6th at the Palacio de Congresos, meaning that from the 3rd from 23.30h, parking on Calle Antonio Dalmases will be forbidden until the 6th.
This means that on the 4th from 16.00h all the streets within the security area will have entry restrictions: The Paseo del Violón, Calle Profesor Tierno Galván, Avenida Sos del Rey Católico, Avenida Pablo Picasso and Calle Poeta Manuel de Góngora, where parking will not be permitted until the 6th at 18.00h.
On the 5th, you wont be able to park on: Calle Acera del Darro, between the Humilladero and the Paseo del Salón and transit will be forbidden between 07.00h to 19.00h. Both of these restriction are in place until the 6th.
This means that five underground public parking installations will be affected: the one serving the Palacio de Congresos from the 5th at 16.00h until it’s all over on the 6th. The underground parking belonging to Violón, will have only one entrance & exit. The parking facilities Los Escolapios will only have access from Callejón del Pretorio. Parking for Puerta Real will only have access for residents. Finally, the Parking for Cruz de Lagos will have intermittent parking restrictions with access only through Calle Grabador David Roberts.
