The weekend just past saw two fatal road accidents; one on the A-7 and another in the Sierra de La Contraviesa area.
The first one was on the A-7 where it passes through Rubite and involved a van hitting a motorway tunnel wall whilst travelling through it. The result was three deaths and five people injured; two of the latter were flown by helicopter to the PTS General Hospital in Granada.
A man in his mid 20s lost his life when he came off the GR5202 near Murtas around 04.20h this morning. When the police and ambulance arrived, there was nothing that could be done for the man.
Update: the latest reports are that the van driver in the A-7 accident was breathalysed and found to be over the limit in alcohol and allegedly also gave a positive reading on drugs. Consequently, he was arrested.
There were 10 people travelling in the van, aged between 26 and 35. Three died, seven were injured, three of whom were seriously injured, amongst them, the driver.
