Readers might remember the article that we published about a car accident involving a Motril couple, which ended with the husband shooting himself.

Well, the tragedy that ended the lives of Encarni and Manolo in May this year was quite possibly a case of murder, which many believe why the husband, a Guardia Civil, traffic-patrol officer, took his own life with his service pistol.

It was thought that Encarni died as a result of the accident but an autopsy reportedly showed that she was dead before the accident and had been strangled.

After the crash the husband stated that he had had to swerve around 20.00h on the 6th to avoid an animal on the A-44 autovía and had lost control, resulting in the vehicle shooting off the road and down a 3-metre embankment near Cozvijar, Valle de Lecrín.

The day following the accident around 08.00ht he told their relatives that he was going home to pick up clothes for their two daughters, aged 12 and 15. Instead, he shot himself.

Everybody supposed that it was through utter grief, although many couldn’t understand how he was prepared to leave his daughters without their mother and father. In fact, it is possible that he had received news that the accident was going to be investigated, which led him to believe that all would be discovered.

It is said, which has not been confirmed and therefore remains speculation, that the paramedics at the scene of the accident noted that her body was too cold for having just lost her life, which raised suspicions.
