In the early afternoon of this Wednesday, police spotted a lad on an electric scooter going far too fast and in a pedestrian area.

This was at 17.00 on the Paseo Marítimo in Torre del Mar and the rider was putting in danger people strolling along the paseo.

Two Policía-Local officers stopped the lad and asked him for his ID; he was a 17-year old of Moroccan origin. He was informed that he was breaking the law by riding the vehicle in a pedestrian area rather than the bicycle lane and especially at that speed.

Fined, the lad walked off pushing the scooter. However, moments later the same two officers saw him riding along a path running parallel with the paseo but in the wrong direction, so they stopped him again.

They told him that they were going to modify the fine that they had written out to include this new transgression. However, the lad began to insult the officers: “you’re sons of bitches and your whore of mothers will have to pay the fine.”

It was at this point that the minor allegedly attacked one of the officers, hitting him on the arm and chest, so he was immediately arrested.
