Starting today, Saturday the 1st of July, the Blue Zones on the seafront paseos in Almuñécar and La Herradura will be activated.
That’s to say, Paseo Puerta del Mar, Paseo de Velilla, Paseo Playa Tesorillo, Paseo Playa El Pozuelo, Avenida Adolfo Suárez (Galera Playa, Taramay), Plaza de Abderramán, Paseo de Las Flores, Paseo San Cristóbal, Paseo Rincón de la China and Paseo Cotobro as far as Edificio Los Ramos.
It also includes Zona 8: Avenida Mar de Plata, Calle Pirámide and Avenida Amelia Sánchez de Alcázar from where it joins Mar de Plata as far as Calle Pirámide.
As for La Herradura, we’re talking about the Paseo Andrés Segovia, from the Mercado Municipal as far as the junction with Calle Alhambra and in the other direction Calle Gonzalo Barbero
This situation will last until the last day of August; i.e., Thursday the 31st of August and will have the following activation times: from 11.00h to 15.00h and then from 19.00h to 22.00h.
However the maximum time that you can remain parked in the same Blue-Zone area is three hours, after that you will have to find somewhere else to park.
Furthermore, when you purchase your ticket, you have to enter your car registration (number plate or matrícula). This is to stop somebody who has not used all his time allowance giving it to another driver as a gift.
Editorial Comment: at this point you can be certain that the whole Blue-Zone arrangement is a rip off and all about taxing drivers to park and has nothing to do with making parking more accessible. In fact, when the PP under Trinidad Herrera was first running for Mayor all those years ago, she made the electoral pledge of reducing the amount of Blue Zones within the municipality. In all her years as Mayor, she never did.
