The provincial office for Costas authorised work to start on the pathway to the nudist beach, Playa El Muerto, in Cotobro (Almuñécar), on the 19th of June.
The public company Tragsa is carrying out the work, which consists of removing cannon-barrel-like, metal posts and the chains connecting them, and replacing them with stone-work posts connected by wooden poles; i.e., each end of the pole or beam will be embedded into the posts.
The municipal surveyor, Juan José Fernández, explained that work would stop over San Juan and continue afterwards because the Playa El Muerto would be crammed by Sanjuaneros just like all the other beaches.
The beach has this name, which is its popular one rather than its original one, because a long time ago a dead body was found washed up onto it.
Editorial comment: could have sworn they had replaced them years ago…
