Almuñécar's water park, Aquatropic, reopened for the season yesterday, the 14th of June; its 35th year.
This year there are new features such as improved access, as well as a VIP area. Personnel have undergone new training, each responsible for different features within the park. Furthermore, more members of staff are bilingual.
At the moment, there are 60 members of staff, which will increase to 75 for July and August, of whom 25 are lifeguards, explained the owner, Vicente Barbero.
Aquatropic, which uses sea water in all its pools and attractions, had over 100,000 visitors last year.
Editorial comment: I remember when they were reclaiming land from the sea on which they would build the park, using a bloody-great crane to drop the boulders into place. How time flies!
