A 26-year-old man was arrested after knocking over an elderly woman in Albolote and then driving off without providing assistance.
Shortly after the accident the Policía Local received several calls to say that a driver was behaving erratically, presumably drunk not far from where the accident occurred.
The accident took place on the Paseo de Ronda in Albolote Wednesday evening. The driver stopped after hitting the 75-year-old woman and then realising what he had done, sped off, but not before eye witnesses had made a note of his numberplate.
Two hours later officers from Albolote and Atarfe appeared at the home of the driver and arrested him. However, he resisted arrest and the officers were attacked by the man’s father and grandfather, as well.
Consequently, all three men were arrested.
The victim was taken to Hospital Trauma (Virgen de Las Nieves) but fortunately, she has since been discharged from hospital.
